This past Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I was in Eugene, OR, for the Pacific Northwest Presbytery's winter meeting. As many of you know, a complaint was filed by one of our presbyters against the acquittal of Rev. Peter Leithart, who was tried for allegedly holding to views inconsistent with the Westminster Confession and Catechisms.Well, the judicial commission whose task it is to rule on and respond to the complaint has yet to finalize its judgment, meaning that it will not be until our April meeting that we will know its decision.
If the complaint is denied, it will be appealed to the denomination's highest court, and where it will go from there is anyone's guess.

ReplyDeleteI really hope that Peter Leithart is eventually found guilty of holding views that are out of accord with the confession so that people will know to RUN away from the Federal Vision. I don't know much about the theology of the matter, but, I can see that when it is trickled down to the practical level it is having such a negative influence on women and children. They are being oppressed in FV churches and a lot of them don't even realize it. The handful abuses that I am personally aware of are so deeply saddening and that is a red flag that there is something wrong at the theological level.
